Van-Far/Community R-VI football crushes North Shelby in opener

One year ago, the Van-Far/Community R-VI football team opened its season with a tough 49-0 loss to Living Word Christian of O’Fallon. They also lost the total yardage battle, 379-130. What a difference a year makes. With an influx of dedicated younger players and key leadership from its upperclassmen, the Indians crushed North Shelby 46-0 in its home opener last Friday night in Vandalia.     The Van-Far Lady Indians softball team traveled to Hallsville this past weekend to start their season with two games in Hallsville’s annual tournament.   • Gatson, Westminster named No. 1 in the nation

    Last year, the Lady Jays basketball team from Westminster College set a goal of being number one in the nation academically. Today, the team was notified by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) that they achieved this high honor. The Lady Jays achieved a 3.642 combined grade point average – the highest GPA for any NCAA Division III women’s basketball team in the country – for the 2013-14 school year.

  • Van-Far students sing at St. Louis Cardinals’ game

    Approximately 120-130 Van-Far Elementary students enjoyed the opportunity of a lifetime last Friday when they traveled to St. Louis and performed the National Anthem before the St. Louis Cardinals’ home game. The students were accompanied by some Van-Far band members, some parents, and teachers while under the direction of Kay Bunge.
