Thirty-five years ago, Van-Far football fans enjoyed watching their Indians earn a nine point victory over Montgomery County, 15-6. The coach was Robert Groff while running backs Ron Hurshman and Andrae Salmon combined to rush for 336 yards.     The Van-Far Lady Indians softball team struggled on defense in recent games and found themselves on the losing end of some double-digit run differentials. Van-Far began last week with a 16-1 loss to Southern Boone after making 11 errors.     The Community R-VI Trojans softball team played hard in five games last week but were only able to pull out one victory. That win came in game two of the Paris Tournament this past weekend after defeating the host Lady Coyotes 3-1 for their first victory of the season.     The Van-Far/Community R-VI football team ran into the No. 4 ranked team in the state last Friday night on the road and couldn’t wait to get home after a tough 82-14 loss. The Bulldogs’ Cory Hanger tied a state record for a single game with two punt returns for a touchdown.   • Mark Twain runs over Van-Far/Community R-VI in 50-0 victory

    Though the Van-Far/Community R-VI football team entered last Friday night’s game against Mark Twain with a 2-0 record, the Indians had yet to face team like the Tigers. Mark Twain won the battle on both the offensive and defensive lines by firing out low on their way to a 50-0 victory. The Tigers had 550 yards rushing in the win.
