Class of 1954 holds 60 year reunion

The Vandalia High School Class of 1954 met for their 60-year class reunion on September 13. The celebration began with an informal “meet and greet” at the Perry Junction, followed by a superb dinner. Thirteen of the original 28 graduates paid their respects to deceased classmates Suzie Potter, Lamar Williams, Bill Wayne Smith, and Randell Hudson.   • Ladies Auxiliary meets, POW/MIA display at library

    The Ladies’ Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 2173 met on Thursday, September 11, at the post home in Vandalia. President Victoria Shaw called the 7 p.m. meeting to order. Opening ceremonies were observed. The minutes were approved as read for the August meeting.  The treasurer reported the current balance with her report being filed for audit.   • Grant awarded to Community R-VI

    The Missouri Retired Teacher’s Foundation awarded a grant of $500 to the Community R-VI  FACS Department.  The grant was awarded for a multi-part lesson plan designed to involve the students from collecting raw food products to dehydrating, canning, and freezing them.

    The Northeast Missouri Genealogical Society will hold their third meeting of the year on Saturday, August 23 at 10 a.m., at the Mexico-Audrain County Library, Mexico.     On Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the American Legion Hall south of Laddonia, 45 were in attendance for the 12th All-Class Reunion of the “old” Laddonia School.     Visiting students, ages 15-18, from around the world including Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and Thailand are seeking host families in and around Vandalia for the upcoming 2014-2015 academic school year. as part of the International High School Exchange.     Audrain Co. 4-H Member Katie Carline, Martinsburg attended State 4-H Congress.
