He is the son of Marion and Sheryl Allen, of Van- Michelle is the granddaughter of Richard and Evelyn Butler and Marilyn Burgert, all of Vandalia. Paul is the grandson of Colleen Wright, of Vandalia.     Jackson Marshall Lee Olebeare

    A son, Jackson Marshall Lee Olebeare, was born to Marlena Jones and Lee Olebeare, of Vandalia, on October 7 at SSM Audrain Hospital in Mexico, Mo. The little man weighed 5 lbs., 14 ozs., and was 18 1/4 inches long. His grandparents are Joe and Pat Jones, of Mexico, and Fred and Theressa Crandell.

    The Monday Study Club met at the United Methodist Church on October 13 at 2 p.m. The hostess was Val Galloway. The meeting was brought to order by President Donna DeTienne, who also led the pledges to the American and Christian flags.     Mason Douglas Steffen

    A son, Mason Douglas Steffen, was born on August 31, 2014 to Brandon and Mallory (Wood) Steffen of Odessa, Missouri. Mason weighed 6 lbs., 1 oz., and was 18.5 inches long. He joins a big brother, Jax. Grandparents are Doug Wood of Vandalia; Barry and Kim Bisee, of Centralia; Monroe Steffen, of Palmyra; Marla Kelly, of New London; and Ronnie Kelly, of Frankford. Great-grandmother is Sandy Hassien, of Vandalia.

  • St. John Lutheran Womans Guild

    The St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild met October 8 at the home of  Dotty Cahill. President Carol Fischer opened the meeting with prayer. Brenda Elliott led the Bible Study “The Greatest Banquet of Thanksgiving”. Election of officers was held.  Officers for 2015 are President Brenda Elliott, Vice-President  Regina Vogt, Secretary Sabrina Lovell, and Treasurer Carol Fischer. The members decided to participate in the Van-Far Holiday Craft Fest on November 22.
