Historical Society sets museum open date

President Paul Ray called the May 17 meeting of the Vandalia Area Historical Society to order by asking for new discoveries or donations. A glass display case donated by Clayton and Mary Ann Kohl Barse and Rachel Kohl and a horse collar donated by Donley Morris were reported.   • Northeast Zone Women’s League meets

    The Northeast Zone of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League met April 27, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bowling Green, Mo. The Ladies of Trinity Lutheran Church in Louisiana were co-hosts. Debbie Curry welcomed all the ladies and guests to Bowling Green. Pastor Jeffrey Dock opened with devotions based on Colossians 3:1-4 where we are reminded by Paul to think and strive for things that benefit our spiritual life

    Highlights from the week: A church service was held in the chapel on Sunday morning and in the afternoon a bingo game sponsored by the Military Order of the Cooties from St. Charles was provided followed by a BBQ which they also sponsored for their supper.  Monday morning the choir from the Jefferson City First Baptist Church provided music for the residents and in the  afternoon Joe Blessing was recognized

  • Chapter CE P.E.O enjoyed April 16 meeting

    The April 16 meeting of Chapter CE  P. E. O. met at The United Methodist Church with hostesses Janie Zimmer, Shirley Morris, and Sharon Lewton. The hostesses served refreshments of a decorated cake and sherbet punch.  The program “Flower Power” was a discussion of gardening hints led by Shirley Morris. Solutions for gathering gum balls from gum trees, depth of bulb planting, and weed control were given by those present.

  • Missouri Veterans’ Home in Mexico highlights

    A church service was held in the chapel on Sunday morning.  Card players gathered in the dining room on Monday afternoon for a game of “Pass the Trash.”  An anonymous donor sponsored a bingo game on Tuesday morning followed by a Bible study in the chapel.  A Lutheran service was held later in the day and in the evening the local VFW #3772 met for their monthly meeting.  American Legion

  • Countryside Manor

    On Monday, April 8 2013 the ladies at Countryside enjoyed playing bingo. They really enjoy playing, especially when they get prizes. They also enjoyed a visit from a lot of friends today. Tuesday, April 9 was a day full of spring coloring. They colored pictures of flowers all kinds of colors to brighten up the day. On Wednesday, April 10 the ladies felt very good after they did some exercises.
