Kids Fishing Day at Mark Twain Lake

In celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake will host Kid’s Fishing Day on Saturday, June 6 for children 5-12 years of age.  Participation will be limited to the first 25 children who register in advance at Mark Twain Lake Project Office by calling 573-735-4097 or by stopping by the office on Route J north of the Clarence Cannon Dam.

    Kasey Gatson, from Vandalia,  has been named to the Westminster Blue Jays’ basketball team in Fulton, Missouri. Gatson, a junior at Westminster, is going to be playing as a point guard this year. Prior to coming to Westminster, Gatson attended Van-Far High School, in Vandalia. The Westminster Blue Jays are being led this season by Head Coach Tracey Braden and assisted by Clifton Cooper.   • YMCA hosts “Kids on the Run” program

    Several area runners competed in the YMCA’s first program in October.

    The Eastern Missouri Family YMCA held their first program event with “Kids on the Run.”  “Kids on the Run” was held the four Saturdays in October and had a 2K race on November 1. There were 10 participates. The Saturdays in October were spent teaching kids about running. They met at 7:45-8:30 a.m. with a different topic every Saturday–talking a little about the importance of what it takes to run,

    The Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Famer and all-time leading scorer, Nick Lowery, will share his message of focus, passion, and purpose when he speaks at William Woods University on November 5. His program, scheduled for at 7 p.m. in Cutlip Auditorium, is part of the President’s Concert and Lecture Series. It is free and open to the public.

The Indians kicked the ball off to start the game. The Indians’ defensive line held the Bulldogs back early, forcing a turnover on downs.
