Pike County SWCD to hold experts event

The Pike County Soil & Water Conservation District is sponsoring an “Ask The Experts” event in Bowling Green at the City Park on Wednesday, August 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. If you’ve ever had questions about natural resource  or environmental concerns, here is your chance to ask an expert. Some agencies and areas of expertise already committed are:  DNR – State Cost Share Programs and Services, Environmental Issues

  • Farber Fun Fest to add Photo Contest

    Another new event is announced at the 2014 Farber Summer Fun Fest.  A Photo Contest is scheduled for Saturday, August 2 at the Community Building.  Pictures must be in place by 9 a.m. and can be picked up by 6 p.m. Pictures must be 8×10 or smaller and need to be either framed or matted. R-VI FFA hosts Food for America event

Audrain County R-VI Chapter and Greenhand Officers planned a Christmas themed Food For America program for Kindergarten-5th grade classes at Community R-VI Elementary School. FFA members taught elementary students about Christmas tree production, then created Christmas tree snow globes in mason jars. Officers plan a monthly program for the elementary students to educate them about different areas of agriculture, ranging from food production, commodities, plant science, and animal science.

    A Winter Music Program featuring Community R-VI Middle and High School students was held last Tuesday night inside the new gym.     Van-Far’s 6th grade band students perform.

    The Van-Far Elementary School 5th and 6th grade students presented “North Pole Exposure” on Monday, December 16 in the gymnasium. The 6th grade band opened with “Jingle Bells” and the 6th grade choir performed a “Jolly Jingle Christmas” medley. The “North Pole Exposure” play consisted of eight scenes.
