Pike County SWCD to hold experts event

The Pike County Soil & Water Conservation District is sponsoring an “Ask The Experts” event in Bowling Green at the City Park on Wednesday, August 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. If you’ve ever had questions about natural resource  or environmental concerns, here is your chance to ask an expert. Some agencies and areas of expertise already committed are:  DNR – State Cost Share Programs and Services, Environmental Issues

  • Farber Fun Fest to add Photo Contest

    Another new event is announced at the 2014 Farber Summer Fun Fest.  A Photo Contest is scheduled for Saturday, August 2 at the Community Building.  Pictures must be in place by 9 a.m. and can be picked up by 6 p.m. Pictures must be 8×10 or smaller and need to be either framed or matted.   • Several area youngsters shine during Audrain County 4-H Fair

    Several youngsters competing in a variety of competitions at this year’s Audrain County 4-H Fair enjoyed success through  the first three days. This year’s activities held July 18-20 out of the five day festival featured a king and queen coronation, a rodeo presented by MCRC, Little Mr./Little Miss contest, a Baby Show, and several animal show contests. The Little Mr. winner was Logan Young, son of Kristen and Jeremy Young.

  • Vandalia Rotary Club holds Tractor Cruise

    Thirty-five tractor drivers braved dusty roads and fresh blacktop to participate in the Annual Rotary Tractor Cruise. The cruise left the Vandalia Area Fairgrounds going east to Amish country. They stopped at Waggler’s Bakery for hot cinnamon rolls and then on to Eicher Brothers Cabinet Shop for a tour.
