Students honored at Van-Far concert

Van-Far band and choral students entertained a crowd during their “End of the Year Concert” held on Thursday, May 11. During the event, a few students were recognized with prestigious awards. Warren Kraft received the John Phillip Sousa Award, Cody Swarthout was given the Directors Award, and Sarah Motley was the recipient of the Bertram Cowley Memorial Scholarship.   • Memorial Day Event set for May 25

    This year’s Memorial Day Services have been set for Monday, May 25. The major change for this year is there will be no service held at the Curryville Cemetery. Services will be held starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Farber Cemetery followed by a 9 a.m. service at Memorial Garden. A 9:30 a.m. service will be held at the Vandalia Cemetery. An indoor service will be held at 10 a.m.

  • Community R-VI celebrates students with Talent and Art Show

    Community R-VI High School hosted a Talent Show and Art Show at the district last Saturday night. Top vocal awards were given at the event. Courtnie Winkler was named the Middle School’s Outstanding Vocal Student. The High School’s Outstanding Vocal Students named were Bethany Schmidt and Lakin Davenport.
