The group will be sharing their music ministry on Sunday, June 16 during the 10:30 am worship service.   • Vandalia Fair to sell season passes

    The Vandalia Area Fair is selling season passes at a discounted rate starting Friday, June 7. Rates will go back up on Monday, June 17. The discounted prices include $20 for senior passes (ages 65 and over), $20 for kids, and $25 for adults. Current places for ticket sales include First National Bank, County Market, Martinsburg Bank and Trust, as well as Bank of America.

  • Perry Chamber’s set for 4th of July event

    The Perry Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2013 schedule of events for the Perry Fourth of July Celebration. This year’s celebration will be held on Thursday, July 4 at Bill Trower Memorial Park in Perry.  The day will include a parade, antique tractor pull, fish and gizzard fry, frog jump, train ride, antique kiddie cars, kids games, and a baby contest.     Vandalia High School Class of 1953 celebrates 60 year reunion. The Class of 1953 of Vandalia High School gathered in Vandalia on April 26 and 27 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation. The group met at the Methodist Church on Friday night for a casual get-together and snacks, sharing photos, scrapbooks and memories of good times. A buffet dinner was held at the Fire Brick on Saturday evening.

  • Angela’s Dance Company holds 6th Recital

    Several performers during the Jazz routine “ABC.” This performance came during the 6th Annual Recital for Angela’s Dance Company, LLC held on Saturday, May 4 at Van-Far High School. Along with  17 total performances, owner Angela Carlyle recognized seniors JaSelle Brookins and Danielle Lucas.  Star students were Mary DuBach, Claire Motley, and Devyn Keller. The first annual Bill and Nancy Stafford Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Kaylen Fisher.

      Angela’s Dance Company LLC presented their Sixth Annual Recital on May 4, 2013. In Creative Dance, “Spoonful of Sugar” was performed by Elaina Brogden, Nora Bybee, Jonah Edmond, Josiah Edmond, Bella Hopkins, Kenya Jones, Jacy Lowrance, Elliott Utterback, KayLynne Wallace, and Khloe Wallace.  In Tap II, “Do Your Thing” was performed by Paige Dameron and McKenna Orf.  In Lyrical, “I See the Light” was performed by Abigail Carlyle, Sierra
