Students inducted into Van-Far NHS

Van-Far’s National Honor Society inducted several new members during a ceremony held last week inside the Van-Far cafeteria. Those inducted include Joseph Clithero, Anthony Cole, Colton Craven, Alexis DeTienne, Anna DeTienne, Jace Gay, Brayden McMillen, Layten McMillen, Andrew Snodgrass, Janie Swarthout, and Jenna Willis.

    Van-far Band and Choir members participated in the District Contest this past weekend in Mexico. Van-Far’s Band earned a “2”. The three adjudicators on the floor gave the band the ratings of “3-Satisfactory,” “2-Outstanding),” and “2-Outstanding.” The Sight-Reading Adjudicator gave the band a “1-Exemplary.)   • Egg Hunt set for Methodist Church

    Several Laddonia area residents check out the many items that were auctioned off during the Laddonia Community Betterment Association’s Chili Supper and Auction held this past Saturday in Laddonia with Auctioneer Alan Williams. Some of the many items sold in the auction include several gift certificates, four Kansas City Royals tickets, a remote automobile starter kit, a brick of .22 shells, an electric weed eater, and more.   • “Painting with Success” at Van-Far

    Several area residents of all ages enjoyed a “Painting with the Indians!” event on Saturday, February 28 at Van-Far Elementary School. Art Teacher Jenniffer Hanson led students in grades 3-12 along with adults in creating a masterpiece. Funds from those paying to participate along with those collected from donations go towards the “Beauty and the Beast” fundraiser. This will be the 2015 Van-Far School Play. The event raised $500.

  • Van-Far FFA raises money with BBQ event

    The Van-Far FFA Chapter hosted its annual BBQ on Saturday, February 28 at the High School. Students worked hard cooking the barbecue pork steaks on the grill and served several during the 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. event. The meals also included beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and homemade desserts. There were 370 meals served and approximately $2,000 was raised from the event.
