  • ACHD to offer discount on vaccines

    The Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) will be offering Tdap and Meningococcal Vaccine to young adults’ ages 19 through 26 years of age at a discounted rate of $15 per visit until the end of August, 2014.     August is Breastfeeding Month. Breastfeeding has often been viewed as a personal choice for the mom; however, breastfeeding is a public health issue.   • ACHD holds “Latch On” event

    On Saturday, August 2,  the Audrain County Health Department hosted “The Big Latch On.” It was a successful event for breastfeeding mothers and community breastfeeding awareness. At this year’s annual worldwide event at Hardin Park in Mexico, Missouri, 28 families showed up to support “The Big Latch On” effort. This is an increase of twice as many successful latch-ons in comparison to last year’s numbers. There were wonderful door prizes

  • Red Cross Helps Laddonia Family

    American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter volunteers are assisting a Laddonia family who had a fire at their home Thursday. Two Red Cross volunteers responded and met with the five-member family, who lived on Audrain Road 637. The Red Cross provided financial assistance for the family, two adults and three children, to meet their immediate emergency needs with the purchase of food, clothing and shoes.
