St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild met at the home of Dotty Cahill on Wednesday, June 12, 1013. The meeting was called to order and opened with prayer by president, Carol Fischer. Kay Robnett, Agape House board member and Cardinal Care grant writer, displays the $1,000 check she received for the Agape House of Vandalia. The St. Louis Cardinals have granted funds several times to be used for gas cards for guests with children visiting family in the Vandalia and Bowling Green Correctional Centers.

In their regular meeting May 21, board members of Agape House of Vandalia were informed of the receipt of a grant of $1,000 from (St. Louis Baseball) Cardinals Care. The grant is to be used to benefit children; as in the past, this grant will be used to purchase fuel gift cards from local service stations and given to families bringing children to visit relatives in the state correctional facilities
The New Harmony Cemetery Association will meet for their annual meeting on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at approximately 11:15 a.m. (following regular worship services at 9 a.m. and Sunday School classes that follow worship). A carry-in meal (with meat being provided) will follow the meeting at noon or shortly thereafter. A memorial service to honor veterans buried at New Harmony will be held at 1 p.m. on the cemetery grounds
The Second Missionary Baptist Church will be hosting the monthly distribution from The Food Bank from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 at 418 Breckenridge St. in Mexico. Social Security Cards for every person in the household, a picure ID with proof of residency for person representing the household and amount of household income.
