    The Second Christian Church in Vandalia honored the memory and legacy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a celebration on Sunday afternoon in Vandalia. Sister Lillian Johnson was the Master of Ceremony. An opening song of “Lift Every Voice” was followed by scripture reading from Lionel Shaw.   • MLK Celebration set for January 18

    The Second Christian Church will be having their Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on January 18 at 3 p.m. The speaker will be the Reverend C. Dawson, of Columbia, Mo. and visiting choirs will participate. The pastor of the Second Christian Church is the Reverend Melvin McCaleb, Sr. and his associates are Brother Robin Terrell and Brother Oscar Williams.

  • First Presbyterian Church holds Candlelight Service

    The First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia held a Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve last Wednesday. Along with a reading, prayer, and hymn singing, those in attendance enjoyed scripture from Isaiah 9:2-7 and Luke 2:1-20. A Communion Service was also held.
