48th Anniversary scheduled for Faith Tabernacle COGIC

The 48th Church Anniversary for Faith Tabernacle COGIC will start on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. with a musical and history reflections of the church.   • Friendship Baptist Church this week

    Friendship Baptist Church Sunday School is Bible study for all ages. The Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. and has spaces available for adults, teens, and children. Morning Worship begins at 10:45 a.m. Each Sunday morning our pastor, Bro. Glenn Forman, challenges the congregation with a message from the King James Version of the Bible after the congregation sings songs from the hymnal under the direction of Mrs. Kristy Schott.

  • Trunk-or-Treat set for Methodist Church on Oct. 26

    The Vandalia United Methodist Church will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday afternoon, October 26, beginning at 3 p.m. and are wanting the public to come collect Halloween goodies in a safe environment. The event will be held in the parking lot behind the church building located at 201 N Jefferson St.  Guests are welcome to come in costumes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Refreshments will be provided.

  • First Presbyterian to hold Scottish event October 26

    The First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia will be hosting a “Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans” service on Sunday, October 26 at 2 p.m. All members of the community are invited to attend the service wearing their family tartans, plaids, and especially kilts. The “Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans” service is a celebration of Scottish heritage through worship and is a continuing part of first Presbyterian Church’s celebration of Reformation Sunday this year

    At 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, Friendship Baptist Church will conduct their monthly business meeting. Immediately following business meeting, the church will meet together for prayer.     The St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild met October 8 at the home of  Dotty Cahill. President Carol Fischer opened the meeting with prayer. Brenda Elliott led the Bible Study “The Greatest Banquet of Thanksgiving”. Election of officers was held.  Officers for 2015 are President Brenda Elliott, Vice-President  Regina Vogt, Secretary Sabrina Lovell, and Treasurer Carol Fischer. The members decided to participate in the Van-Far Holiday Craft Fest on November 22.
