Services set for Thanksgiving

• The annual Community Thanksgiving Service, hosted by the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance, has changed this year from the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. This year it will take place Sunday, November 23 at 6 p.m at the United Methodist Church. • The Laddonia Community Thanksgiving Service, sponsored by the Laddonia Ministerial Alliance, will be held Sunday, November 23 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Laddonia Presbyterian Church, located at 205 West Fifth

    Churches and individuals are being asked to donate the items listed below to help the Hope Center prepare their Thanksgiving meals. Also, money for turkey hens would be appreciated. Items requested are boxed stuffing, boxed mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables (corn and green beans), and canned yams.   • Revival scheduled for First Christian

    Vandalia First Christian Church will be hosting a revival and a children’s revival November 9-12 beginning at 6 p.m. each evening. A service will be held on Sunday morning November 9 at 10:15 a.m. The evening services will be at 6 p.m. each night. A fellowship meal will follow each evening service.     The 48th Church Anniversary for Faith Tabernacle COGIC began last Friday evening with a musical and history reflections of the church. On Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., there was a prayer breakfast. Vandalia Mayor Ralph Kuda, Jr. was the guest speaker.     Friendship Baptist Church Sunday School provides Bible study for all ages. The Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. and has spaces available for adults, teens and children. Morning Worship begins at 10:45 a.m.. Each Sunday morning our pastor, Bro.   • Harvest Party at New Harmony

    Several young people and “young at heart” adults enjoyed a Harvest Party held at the New Harmony Christian Church on Saturday, October 24.  For the first time that anyone could remember, the riders on the hayride needed sunscreen instead of a coat.   • Women’s event set for Nov. 7-8

    The Second Missionary Baptist Church is hosting a women’s conference, “And the Giants Came Tumbling Down,” on November 7-8 featuring keynote speaker, the Reverend Erin Reynolds, of Fifth Street Christian Church in Columbia. On Friday, the doors open at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, they open at 7 a.m. This conference is for girls nine years and older, and all women.
