Middletown Christian set for “Back to School” Carnival

To celebrate the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, Middletown Christian Church will be hosting a “Back to School Carnival” on Saturday, August 2 from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Kids and parents will be able to enjoy pony rides, hayrides, a Bounce House, face painting, balloon modeling, a photo booth, a duck pond, and a corn pit.   • Spencer Creek Baptist Church holds VBS

    Many youngsters enjoyed a horse belonging to Gary Fowler along with several activities and lessons during Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Spencer Creek Baptist Church in Vandalia on July 16. Sixteen kids and about a dozen workers participated in the one-day event along with the Rev. Bob and Sharon Hoehn.

  • Vandalia Rotary Club holds Tractor Cruise

    Thirty-five tractor drivers braved dusty roads and fresh blacktop to participate in the Annual Rotary Tractor Cruise. The cruise left the Vandalia Area Fairgrounds going east to Amish country. They stopped at Waggler’s Bakery for hot cinnamon rolls and then on to Eicher Brothers Cabinet Shop for a tour.     What a great season for the Bible quiz teams of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Vandalia have had. The Beginners Team, which consists of Caleb Hazel and Rachel Murray Cassaday, have won first place four times. Caleb won five first-place trophies and Rachel won two second-place trophies and one third-place trophy on the All Tournament Team for individual scores.
