Middletown church ready for Revival

Middletown Christian Church will be hosting a Revival April 11–13, featuring Larry Necessary as the guest minister.  The services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday – Sunday evening, and at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning.   • Bible Quiz students excel in competition

    During the first weekend of March, the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Vandalia, located at 908 East Highway 54, hosted a Bible Quiz competition. Teams traveled from Evansville, Ind.; Carmi, Ill.; Battlefield, Mo.; Akron, Ohio; and Edwardsburg, Mich. While hosting this quiz Vandalia’s Senior Team and Junior Team both won third place team trophies and the Beginners Team won an undefeated first place team trophy.   • “Crimson Gold” to perform March 29

    A southern gospel music group, “Crimson Gold,” will be in concert on Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Adiel Baptist Church. Admission is free and a love offering will be collected. The church is located at the corner of Highways C and F. On Sunday, Adiel Baptist Church will have a Sunday School time starting at 9:30 a.m. Their worship service begins at 10:30 a.m.

  • Rev. Balwanz retires after serving 33 years

    Rev. Bob Balwanz is joined by his wife Linda during a retirement service held Sunday, March 16 inside the Farber Community Building. Rev. Balwanz is retiring after serving for 33 years behind the pulpit to the congregations of Farber and Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Churches. He was also joined by his son David Balwanz as well as other friends, family members, and fellow congregational members during the ceremony.

    The Second Christian Church will be having their 30th Annual Usher Day program on March 16 at 3 p.m. The speaker will be the Rev.  Ralph Gilcrease. The choir of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of Troy, Mo., will perform. The pastor of Second Christian Church is the Rev.
