  • Van-Far Scholar Bowl Team finishes second in districts

    The Van-Far Scholar Bowl team finished second in last week’s district competition held at Van-Far High School. “I was so impressed with our team; advancing to the semifinals alone, was a major accomplishment,” said Van-Far Scholar Bowl Advisor Mindy Nasir as her team advanced to the semifinals for the first time since she’s been coach. “The difficult level of the questions, especially for the championship round, was unbelievable.” Bryan Mink

  • Brandon Westlake receives prestigious national scholarship

    Community R-VI teacher Brandon Westlake has been selected as one of 25 teachers nationwide to receive a prestigious scholarship to the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. The scholarship gives Westlake the opportunity to study U.S. History in Dallas, Texas from July 19-25 at the George W. Bush Presidential Library on the Southern Methodist University campus.     Van-Far Elementary School will be having their annual Fitness Night on April 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to celebrate the end of our “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser.     The Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) recently presented the Van-Far High School with a Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite Award (Silver Standard). ACHD’s goal is to help support other worksites in Audrain County to be recognized as being breastfeeding friendly.
