Agape House set for Open House

The Agape House of Vandalia board members met in regular session Tuesday, August 20 and set Sunday, October 13, as the date for the 10th annual open house. Tours of the facility will be provided for the public from 12:30-2:30 p.m.; refreshments will be provided by board members.
In other business, members learned that 73 guests, including 15 children, had stayed at the house in July. House manager, Doris Donoho, also reported that the air conditioner had required repair on August 17.
Invitations were received to two upcoming events in the next weeks:
The 5th Annual State of the Community, sponsored by Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held August 27. Veanna Snodgrass will represent the Agape House.
United Way of Audrain County Kickoff Luncheon to be held at Audrain Medical Center, will be conducted September 5. Sterling and Karen Holbrook will attend.
Janet Heim asked the board to offer ideas for the upcoming fall newsletter. She also reported that a crew of five to six women, accompanied by two WERDCC staff, would be doing cleaning in the guest house Wednesday, October 2.
Several guest surveys were reviewed. Board members were happy to see very positive comments by guests.
In attendance at the meeting were Alberta Cropp, J. Heim, K. Holbrook, S. Holbrook, Phil Pennington, Floy Oliver, and V. Snodgrass.
The next meeting is to be held Tuesday, September 17, at the facility.
