An after look from Farber Park.

Due to budget reductions several years ago MODOT stopped all maintenance of the roadside park on Hwy 54 in Farber.  The park had always been used by local residents and people traveling thru the area would stop to eat, stretch their legs or let their pets out for a walk. After the state discontinued the maintenance efforts, the grass and weeds quickly took over. MODOT removed the trash cans and picnic tables.  In March of this year, Farber Community Betterment took on the commitment, approved by the state, to take over the care of the park as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program. A work day was held in early spring for the initial clean up and mowing.  Community Betterment purchased a handicap picnic table and another table was donated by Dean and Susie Eisele.  P.A. Hull stained the boards for the table, put it together and anchored it down, along with help from Lyle Morris and Todd Keller who also took care of welding stands for the trash cans and anchoring them down.  Lacrosse in Vandalia helped with materials for the project.  Many residents have volunteered their time by taking turns mowing each week. The response has been wonderful.  Anyone who would like to help out with the mowing this year or next, please contact Judy Hull at 249-3274 or Dana Keller at 473-4812
