MARY “KATHRYN” (BANKS) HAYNIE
Mary “Kathryn” (Banks) Haynie, age 92, of Farber, passed away unexpectedly at 2:22 a.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Mo.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 10 a.m. until service time at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.
Services are set for Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel.
Officiating will be Pastor Justin Franke. Music is provided by selected favorite hymns.
Interment will be in the Farber Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Noseff, Keith King, Andrew Gaw, Cole Chrisman, Garrett Day, and Taylor Haynie.
Mary “Kathryn” (Banks) Haynie was born on July 10, 1921 in Marshall, Mo., the daughter of James Thomas and Pearl (Woolery) Banks.
She was married to Laban “L. G.” Haynie on October 19, 1940 in Nelson, Mo.; he preceded her in death on May 29, 1999.
Kathryn was a 1939 Marshall High School graduate and moved to Vandalia with husband, L.G. in 1948.
She had worked in the Kroger Grocery Store and Goodin’s Store in Vandalia. In 1960, they moved to Farber where she worked in Callen’s Market.
Kathryn was a full-time homemaker and member of the Farber Christian Church.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. Kathryn also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her two sons, Gary L. and wife, Margaret Haynie of Farber; Laban G. Jr. and wife, Kim Haynie of Farber; one daughter, Kathy D. and husband, Ken Scott of Farber; 10 grandchildren: Gina, Herb, Liz, Mike, Michele, Jennifer, Andrew, Annie, Jada and Amanda; also survived by 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, L.G.; five brothers: Dave Banks, Russell Banks, Bill Banks, Lee Banks and Cecil Banks; three sisters: Lou Berryman, Bess Scarbrough and Maudie Templeton.
Memorials are encouraged to the Farber Christian Church.
