Highlights from the week
A church service was held in the chapel on Sunday morning and in the afternoon the Mexico Elks Lodge #919 held a flag ceremony. Monday morning a group of Veterans gathered in the activity room and discussed “The Challenger Explodes” followed by a game of “Pass the Trash” in the afternoon. A live video of the Memorial in South Korea was held in the dining room later that afternoon. Homemade bread and coffee were served in the activity room on Tuesday morning, a Bible study was held in the chapel after lunch and then in the afternoon the Lost Laddonia Boys entertained with music and the activity staff cooked the fish that was recently caught on a fishing trip and served it to everyone. That evening a group went out to supper. On Wednesday, residents with June birthday went to Teddy Joe’s for lunch and in the afternoon the Vandalia VFW Post & Auxiliary #2173 sponsored a bingo game. A NAHCA recognition was held in the dining room following the bingo game at which time they recognized staff that had recently attended the convention in Oklahoma. Bingo was the highlight on Thursday morning followed by a shopping trip to Wal-Mart in the afternoon. For supper, residents helped prepared a smoked rib supper with all the fixings and enjoyed it in the activity room. Friday morning a memorial/dedication service was held for a former volunteer, Betty David in the Special Care Outdoor Area. Beamer’s Antique Cars were the entertainment on Friday afternoon as the residents traveled to Paris to see Jack Beamer’s collection. On Saturday, the Ham Radio group held their yearly event in the pavilion area.
A resident is collecting tabs from aluminum cans for the Ronald McDonald House in Columbia. If you would like to save the tabs and bring them to the facility, he will see that they get to the Columbia location.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR!! Resident Family Day will be Thursday, July 4th beginning at 5:00 p.m. Come enjoy the evening with the residents along with the food, games & fireworks!!
