Agape House makes plans for fall open house; gift list reviewed
At their June 18 meeting, board members of Agape House of Vandalia made plans for the ninth annual open house; it is tentatively set for October though a final date remains to be set. Along with that, discussion was held regarding annual fall cleanup by women from WERDCC. A request for assistance will be sent to the correctional center soon.
In other business, the manager’s report indicated 62 persons, including nine children, had stayed at the guest house in May. In guest surveys, comments were very positive about the facility and management.
Guests appreciate the minimal cost to stay, citing the benefit to family budgets when travel can be so expensive. Occasionally the house manager has opened the house on extra nights for families wishing to attend parole hearings or expecting release of a family member. This has also been appreciated by guests.
Sterling and Karen Holbrook reported their interview earlier in the day by members of the Audrain County United Way board.
