Women’s Guild holds monthly meeting
St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild met at the home of Dotty Cahill on Wednesday, June 12, 1013. The meeting was called to order and opened with prayer by president, Carol Fischer.
Brenda Elliott presented the topic, “Created by the Master Designer.” Seven members (Dotty Cahill, Carol Fischer, Regina Vogt, Brenda Elliott, Elsie Hand, Sabrina Lovell, and Karen Morris) read scriptures containing the word “compassion” to answer roll call.
Secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and accepted. Committee reports were given. Members were reminded of the upcoming voters meeting, July 14.
Everyone agreed the Mother-Daughter Brunch had been a success. Dotty, Brenda, and Elsie attended the Tri-County Care Center’s appreciation dinner on May 15. They reported having a wonderful meal and great entertainment at that event.
Plans were finalized for the St. John Guild Open House on July 21, from 1-3 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.
This will be a community-wide open house event honoring Pastor Adam Finney and his wife, Melisa, who will be leaving Vandalia by the end of July. Preliminary plans were discussed regarding the Zone Fall Rally, which St. John will host in October. Next guild meeting will be held September 11 at 7 p.m.
Meeting adjourned with members saying The Lord’s Prayer. Carol Fischer provided refreshments.
