R-VI baseball falls in district semifinals

The Community R-VI Trojans baseball team had their season come to a disappointing end last week when they lost in the district semifinals 13-12 to rival Silex.
Pitchers Jacob Eastwood, Lane Thebeau, and Kaleb Harris all saw time on the mound.
Harris struck out two batters in the 7th inning before allowing the game-winning run to score on a bloop double down the right field line with the bases loaded.
Justin Durham led the Trojans with two hits, including a two-run home run.
Clay Thebeau had a big hit late in the game that scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.
“We hit the ball well but really struggled to make plays for our pitchers defensively,” said Community R-VI head coach Mike Boedeker.
Community R-VI finished the season with an 8-6 record.
“I was proud of the season these boys put together,” he added. “They battled through tough weather all season and really hit the ball well all year. We played most of our 14 games in the last two weeks of our season and were playing good baseball leading into districts. I look forward to watching this team continue to improve over the next couple of years.”
