St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild hosted a Mother-Daughter Brunch on Saturday, May 11, 2013, in the church fellowship hall, using a “Sing into Spring” theme. Table decorations were done in bright spring colors, and various musical ornaments (from the collection of Dorothy Cahill) were displayed to enhance the decorations, in addition to bright pink potted geraniums. Heritage Café catered the event.
Guild President, Carol Fischer, welcomed members and their guests. Brenda Elliott offered an opening prayer. Members introduced their guests, and a funny game was played to determine who would win the flowers on each table.
Providing entertainment for the event was vocalist/pianist Miss Hannah Adkison, a senior at Hannibal High School, who recently was awarded a scholarship to attend MU to study music education.
Those attending from out of town included: Hannah Adkison and her mother, Pam – Hannibal; Regina Vogt – Laddonia; Joyce Pilliard, Beth, Larna, and Lucy Schnitker – Middletown; Sabrina and Rylee Lovell – Mexico; Amy and Anna Miller – Thompson; Barbara Majors – LaPlata; Margarethe Price – Perry. Members and guests from Vandalia included: Carol Fischer, Marie Haught, Dorothy Cahill, Anne Barnes, Helen Thompson, Edna Mae Wallace, Theresa Teague, Linda and Elizabeth McBride, Marlo, Katlyn, Abigail and Carly Hunn, Karen Morris, Debbie Wood, Brenda Elliott, and Doris McMorris.
A closing prayer was given by Carol Fischer.
