McGlasson set to retire

Elsie McGlasson

After nearly 25 years of serving in the Vandalia Police Department, Elsie McGlasson will be working her final day on May 31.
Due to a recent illness, McGlasson has decided to retire.
“I have really enjoyed my work, being able to assist and help others in their time of need,” McGlasson said.
McGlasson began working with the department in September 1988 as a part-time employee. In August 1989, she was hired as a full-time dispatcher. Police officer Bruce Weilmuenster was her trainer. Weilmuenster was a full-time police officer back then and a part-time dispatcher.
Over the past nine years, she served as Training Agency Coordinator (TAC) for the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) as well as the head dispatcher for Vandalia’s Police Department.
