Highlights from the week:
A church service was held in the chapel on Sunday morning and in the afternoon a bingo game sponsored by the Military Order of the Cooties from St. Charles was provided followed by a BBQ which they also sponsored for their supper. Monday morning the choir from the Jefferson City First Baptist Church provided music for the residents and in the afternoon Joe Blessing was recognized as the May 2013 Employee of the Month and Sharon Cuno, Cook was recognized as the May 2013 Rookie of the Month at a reception followed by a game of “Pass the Trash.” Linda Baker made homemade muffins for the residents on Wednesday morning and then several residents enjoyed a fishing trip to the Jacksonville Cemetery Lake. Tuesday afternoon a Bible study was held in the chapel. A Lutheran service was provided on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon a bingo game and refreshments was sponsored by Motie & Robert Bradley. American Legion Post #552 from Martinsburg sponsored the blackout game with the bingo on Thursday morning and in the afternoon another bingo game was held which was sponsored by the Santa Fe Sociable’s. A trip to the local Wal-Mart was held on Friday morning and in the afternoon a Catholic Mass was provided for the residents in the chapel. The Vandalia VFW Fish Fry was held on Friday evening which a group of residents attended. Fulton VFW Post & Auxiliary #2657 sponsored a bingo game on Saturday for the residents.
Spotlight: Joe Blessing, RN was recognized as the May 2013 Employee of the Month at a reception on Monday. Joe has been an employee at the facility since June 2007
Sharon Cuno, Cook was recognized as the May 2013 Rookie of the Month at a reception on Monday. Sharon has been an employee at the facility since September 2012.
A resident is collecting tabs from aluminum cans for the Ronald McDonald House in Columbia. If you would like to save the tabs and bring them to the facility, he will see that they get to the Columbia location.
VFW Post #3772 will meet on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the dining room at the facility. All VFW members are welcome to attend.
Alzheimer Support Group will meet on Wednesday, May 22nd at 1:30 p.m. at the facility. The public is welcome to attend.
