Quarterly emergency meetings beneficial for Audrain County
Steve Shaw, left, addresses the more than 25 people who attended the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) of Audrain County’s quarterly meeting last week.
In the same week the country was shocked by both the Boston Marathon bombings and the Texas fertilizer plant explosion, it was only fitting that the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) of Audrain County held their quarterly meeting last Thursday at the Audrain County Courthouse.
The group of more than 25 people representing pipelines, implement dealers, emergency personnel, and the media didn’t talk much about the two horrific events but they did continue ongoing preparations for any event that might ever hit the county.
The meeting gave the opportunity for those in these key areas of the county to meet one another and learn of each others safety needs to help be better prepared for most types of emergencies.
“(The meeting) definitely helps the overall coordination with planning,” said Audrain County Emergency Management Director Steve Shaw.
