Trojans’ baseball falls in extra innings to Elsberry

Due to weather, the Community R-VI Trojans baseball team only had one game last week, but what a game it was.
It came down to the final two innings as the Trojans took a two run lead in the top of the 7th inning before Elsberry tied things at 7-7 in their final at-bat.
The Trojans scored four runs in the top of the 8th inning and appeared ready for a victory when the host Indians responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning for a victory.
“We put together a number of clutch hits in the final two innings, but Elsberry strung together hits when they needed to as well,” said Community R-VI head coach Mike Boedeker.
“I was happy with our offensive output, but it would have been nice to leave there with a win.”
Justin Durham led the Trojans with two doubles, one walk, and two RBIs.
Clay Thebeau reached base four times with four walks and three runs scored.
