10th Annual Cruise set for Martinsburg

Cars from the 2012 Cruise Night in Martinsburg.

The American love affair with automobiles has lasted more than 100 years and shows no indications of dwindling.  Anyone who disagrees need only come to Martinsburg, Mo. on Friday, April 26.
April 26 is the 10th annual Cruise Night, hosted by Martinsburg Area Community Betterment. The event is a local favorite and draws hundreds of people every year. It begins at 5 p.m. with a car show, followed by a cruise of those cars through the downtown area.
Each year, this family friendly event has consistently grown larger; bringing car, truck, and motorcycle enthusiasts together from throughout the region in an old school rendezvous and show off.  That first year probably had 30 to 40 cars.  In 2012, nearly 200 entries took part in the show.  The increased numbers of entries and spectators demonstrate the American fascination with the car is alive and well.
A cruise and car show made perfect sense as a way to raise money when the “last burger was served at the Old Tavern.”
