One person killed, one with area ties hurt in I-70 wreck
A Centralia man suffered serious injuries in an Interstate 70 wreck on Friday afternoon, March 22.
Leonard T. Gregis, age 48, of Centralia, Mo., is currently in ICU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. His wife is Lisa Gregis (Hutcheson), who is originally from the Vandalia-Farber area.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when Jill E. Gunsten, age 26, of St. Charles, Mo., reportedly lost control of a 2009 Honda Fit while traveling eastbound on I-70. She then traveled through the cable median of the interstate into westbound traffic and struck Gregis’ 1997 Toyota Celica head on.
A third vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Jennifer D. Coldorn, age 31, of Jonesburg, Mo., struck the rear of Gregis’ Celica. Coldron was not injured.
Gunsten was pronounced dead later that evening at Mercy Hospital at Creve Coeur. Prayers are appreciated for the families involved at this time.
