Committee members met recently to make plans for the Annual AMC Foundation Heart-to-Heart Luncheon which will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Steinman’s Banquet Hall in Mexico, MO which is a new location this year.
The purpose of the luncheon is to celebrate the energy of women while sharing important heart information. While enjoying a tasty lunch and participating in a purse-onality auction, guests will learn about cholesterol, LDL, HDL and Triglycerides and what the numbers mean. Participants are encouraged to visit the AMC lab prior to May 1 for blood work – free of charge – and will receive the results at the luncheon. Participants will also be able to ask heart related questions of Cardiologists Larry Handlin, DO and Charles Tillman, MD and hear a woman’s personal heart story.
This year will be the fifth year the AMC Foundation has hosted this fundraiser. With the proceeds from this luncheon, we have purchased an IVUS system, EPS stimulator, updated echocardiogram equipment to 3D technology for the Jordan-Waters Heart Center and purchased new equipment for the AMC Cardiac Rehab program. Proceeds from this year’s luncheon will again be used to purchase needed equipment for the Jordan-Waters Heart Center.
“I and many of the committee members are a part of this event because we have heart health histories or care about helping someone that does. Last year we sold out with 300 participants and anticipate the same this year with 100% of the money raised staying in our community and benefiting AMC’s Jordan Waters Heart Center,” stated Lynn Nickoley, committee co-chairperson.
