Community R-VI’s Amelia Knipfel tries to avoid the Bowling Green pressure.
The Community R-VI varsity girls basketball team knocked off a sturdy Marion County crew in a 36-22 road win Thursday, February 14.

“It was a tale of two teams who really put a lot of emphasis on the defensive end of the floor as indicated by the 13-9 score at halftime,” Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis said. “Coach Johnson does a great job year after year keeping the Lady Mustangs a Class 1 powerhouse.”
The Lady Trojans narrowly won the first quarter 6-5 and held a 13-9 edge at the half. Community R-VI rallied with an 8-0 run in the third quarter and beat the Lady Mustangs 15-13 in the fourth.
“This is the kind of win that could spark a flame in districts next week,” Curtis said.
