Virginia Beavers, age 90, of Center, Mo., died at 2:59 PM, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Kings Daughters Residential Care Facility in Mexico, Mo.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Adiel Baptist Church in Rural Frankford, Mo. Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in rural Center, Mo.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo.
Mrs. Beavers was born January 20, 1923, in Ralls County, Missouri to Roman Sylvester and Sarah Elizabeth Sayre Turner.
She was married to A. V. Beavers on September 5, 1943 at Salem Baptist Church in rural Center, Mo. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1989.
Survivors include one son, James Earl Beavers (Beverly) of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Ginny Lee Raney (E.G.) of Mexico, Mo., Patricia Mae Brown (Charlie) of Bowling Green, Mo.; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Neighbors (David) of St. Louis, Mo., Brandon Beavers (Susan) of Louisville, Tenn., Tabitha Morrow (Clint) of Parker, Colo., Amy Raney of St. Charles, Mo., Justin Beavers of Knoxville, Tenn. and Chad Brown (Jessica) of Troy, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Beavers, Joshua and Eliana Neighbors, Carson and Cooper Brown; two nieces, Vickie Straube (Chris) of Center, Mo. and Betty Jo Takahashi (Ake) of O’Fallon, Mo.; one cousin Maxine Simon of Lake Ozark, Mo., and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Earl Turner; and one sister, Zella Ruth Turner; three nieces, Brenda Witt, Beverly Berendzen and Carla Cunningham; and one great niece, Sara Straube Anders.
Mrs. Beavers graduated from Frankford High School and Gem City Business College. She was a secretary for Moorman Manufacturing Company in Quincy, Illinois before returning to the family farm which she continued to manage. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Adiel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, sharing her beautiful pieces with those she loved.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and visiting with family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Adiel Baptist Church, Kings Daughters Residential Care Facility or Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Elizabeth Neighbors, Brandon Beavers, Tabitha Morrow, Amy Raney, Justin Beavers, and Chad Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Straube, Dale Cragen, John Scherder, Ronnie Carman, Trent Straube, and Aaron Straube.
