Trout season opens at impoundments on February 1st at areas such as Kiwanis Lake in Plunkett Park.  If you go fishing please remember several things.  You must possess a valid fishing permit.  Fishing permits will expire on February 28th and must be renewed by March 1st if you possess a 2012 permit at that time.  If you possess trout, you must have a trout stamp.  Do not ice fish on Kiwanis Lake or any lake maintained by the City of Mexico.  The limit of trout is 4 per day per person and the possession limit is 8.  Do not double dip your limit during the day as this is going over your daily limit.
