R-VI JH girls finish season at 10-2
Community R-VI JH team after winning their own local tournament.
On the final night of the Community R-VI Junior High Basketball Tournament, the Lady Indians knocked off the Wellsville-Middletown 8th grade team 33-10 to claim tournament victory.
Top scorers for Community R-VI were Alissa Curtis with 21 points, Danie Jackson with four points, and Chelsea Hoyt with four points.
The Community R-VI Junior High girls basketball crew finished 10-2 on the season with hardware from both the Madison Tournament and the Community R-VI tournament.
“Every game the girls played well and worked hard the entire game,” Lady Indians head coach Holly Gemes said.
The lone losses for the Community R-VI squad were to Madison and New Bloomfield.
“New Bloomfield was our first game of the season and Madison played man-to-man the entire game, which we had not faced in an entire game all season to that point,” Gemes said. “If we could have played those teams again at the end of our season, I have no doubt that the team would be able to beat them.”
