Several runners earn EMO honors
The Community R-VI cross county team earned three medals and an all-EMO honor in the October 15 EMO Conference meet at Elsberry.
Running against 25 others, Leah Mays finished in 8th place with a time of 23:59, shedding 15 seconds off her time at Elsberry last year and earning all-conference honors. Kaitlin Orr medaled with at 14th place finish and a time of 25:15. On the boys team, Ryan Kitchen medaled in 15th place at 19:47 and Lance Gibson placed 23rd with a time of 21:41. Kitchen and Gibson ran against 38 runners.
“The kids looked really strong in their races and competed very well on a very tough course,” said Community R-VI head coach Kris Cross.
The R-VI squad went to Bowling Green on Friday, October 19.
Orr placed 31st with a time of 24:50 against 57 other runners.
Gibson took 54th place and a time of 21:12 with Sean Wilson placing 61st at 21:56. Kitchen trailed Wilson by one second, placing 62nd at 21:57. The boys faced 79 runners.
“It was a tough meet for the kids just having conference on Monday and having to compete on another hilly course,” Cross said.
