Man killed in accident

A fatal accident near the intersection of Highways 19 and 154 shut down traffic on Monday, October 15.

A fatal accident near the intersection of Missouri State highways 19 and 154 forced emergency officials to shut down the roadway at around 3 p.m. on Monday, October 15.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, Jason Wood, age 40, of Jefferson City, was pronounced dead at the scene by Ralls County Sheriff Paul Forney at 3:42 p.m. His next of kin was notified.
Wood was reportedly driving southbound in his 2006 Infinity when he crossed the center line about a half-mile from the intersection and struck a 2004 Kenworth tractor trailer head on. The Kenworth, driven by George Johnson, age 70, of Maywood, Mo., ran off the west side of the roadway and overturned.
Wood’s vehicle came to rest in the middle of the roadway and caught fitre.
Johnson was transported to University Hospital in Columbia by EVAC after suffering serious injuries. Assisting at the scene included Cpl. Roland Bartels 323, Tpr. Paul Behrens 302, Tpr. Michael Coleman 1320, the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department, Perry Fire Department, Van-Far Ambulance, Ralls County Ambulance, and MoDOT.
This is the 29th fatality for Troop B in 2012.
