Martinsburg church set for “Oktoberfest”

The St. Joseph Church in Martinsburg will hold its annual Oktoberfest event on Sunday, October 7, with festivities starting at 11 a.m. on the St. Joseph parish grounds.
The event offers a quilt raffle, homemade ice cream, a country store, kettle fried chicken, brats and kraut, German potato salad, beer and wine, a car show, and games for all ages.
Local talent performances will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., after which will be live German music from “The Hungry Five Band.”
Registration for the washer tournament will be held from 11-11:30 p.m.
Registration for the car show will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Classes include:
• Antique car and truck from 1900-1948
• Pre-1949 street rod
• Street machine car from 1949-1969
• Street machine car from 1970-1998
• Truck from 1949-1972
• Truck from 1973-present
• Original car from 1949-1972
• Original car from 1973-present
• Rat rod
• Lead sled
• Best motorcycle
• Father Greg’s choice
First place will be awarded for each category. Registration costs $15 and awards will be presented at 3 p.m.
A live auction at 4 p.m. will follow the car show.
