Agape House Meeting Minutes

The board of directors of Agape House in Vandalia, in its July 22 meeting, set Sunday, October 12, as the date for the 10th anniversary celebration and open house. Former managers, board members, construction team, and donors are to be invited, along with the public.
A brief program will review history of the facility, as well as recognition of those significant in its construction and operation.
In other business, the house manager reported 48 guests, including seven children, had stayed at the house in June.  Paul Fennewald completed patching and painting walls in the community room as well as two guest rooms.
A minor gas leak had been repaired in the laundry room.
The quarterly inspection was conducted and the facility was found to be in excellent condition.
Guest surveys also reflected this as well as commending the management of the guest house.
Board members were pleased to learn the facility would receive funding from United Way of Audrain County in 2015.
Board members in attendance included Alberta Cropp, Carlene Galloway, Janet Heim, Sterling Holbrook, Elwood LaRue, Floy Oliver, Phil Pennington, Kay Robnett, and Veanna Snodgrass.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, August 19.
Monetary gifts received in June include the following: Ascent Gavel Club, NECC, Vietnam Veterans’ Association, NECC, and Edgewood Baptist Church, all of Bowling Green; Bethlehem Baptist Church, of Centralia;  Curryville Baptist Church and Elm Grove Baptist Church, of Curryville; Gladys Williams of Farber; Grand Crossings Baptist Association and Southside Baptist Church, of Fulton; Laddonia Christian Church; Lockewood Park Baptist Church, and Friendship Baptist Church, of Mexico;  Kevin Chew of Seneca; Loretta Hawes of St. Charles; Mary Scheffler of Leander, Texas; Hopewell Baptist Church and John Yost, of Thompson; Southside Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church, and First Christian Church, all of Vandalia; Mary Roller of Washburn;  and Hopewell Baptist Church, of Wellsville.
Non-monetary gifts received included children’s pillows by “Pillows of Love” group, of Mexico; and puzzles by Virginia Beasley, and snacks, cereals, beverages and tableware by Hopewell Baptist Church, of Thompson.
