Farmer Farmerette Club meets
The June meeting of the Farmer Farmerette Club was held on Thursday, June 5 at 6 p.m. at the home of Jerry and Keri Bradford with Kay Reading as hostess. President Reading called the meeting to order and led the pledge to the American flag.
This month’s roll call was to tell an old-time remedy and was answered by Wanda Hanson, Elsie Lybarger, Pauline Keithley, Keri Bradford, Claudine Lybarger, Pauline Keithley, Keri Bradford, Claudine Lybarger, Pauline Oberman, Jeannie Smith, Clara Shaver, and Kay Reading. Most remedies were ones all of us had used but a few seem too far out in left field to be reliable.
A carry-in meal was enjoyed by all before the guest speaker, Mrs. Debbie Kraft, gave a most enjoyable talk and showed pictures of her visit to Italy last March. A few of the things that are different from us is that drivers drive very fast and the gas is $1.80 a quart! Electricity is also very expensive as are apartments, which are very small. The people drive only small cars and an Italian license is good for only two years. If you go to a restaurant, it costs more if you sit down to eat your meal.
Reading read an article on D-Day June 6, 1942, one on the Battle of Midway, and also one about our flag for the devotional.
The mystery prize, donated by Elsie, was won by Shaver. Smith had the game with everyone a winner.
Next month’s meeting will be held on Thursday evening, July 3 at 6 p.m. at the home of Elsie Lybarger with Clara Shaver s hostess.
