Jimmy Charles (Jim) Howdeshell
VANDALIA-Services for Jimmy Charles (Jim) Howdeshell, 78, of Vandalia, was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Vandalia First Baptist Church Family Life Center with Reverend Frank Welch officiating.
Private family interment services will be held at later date.
Visitation was held on Tuesday evening from 4-6 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home.
Mr. Howdeshell passed away at 7:20 p.m. June 7, 2014 at Tri County Care Center in Vandalia.
He was born May 30, 1936 in Laddonia. His parents were Russel and Lucille Snyder Howdeshell.
He was married to Virginia Largent on November 7, 1958 in Vandalia and she survives.
Other survivors include: one son, David Howdeshell of Licking and his special friend, Jeannie Slater, of Vandalia; one daughter, Rita Howdeshell, of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Russel (Thelma) Howdeshell, of Columbia, S.C., Bob (Vickie) Howdeshell, of Bonfield, Ill., and Thom (Jen) Howdeshell, of Arizona; three sisters, Lola (Walt) Duffen, of Mexico, Patsy Stevenson, of St. Ann, Ill., and Betty (Louie) Bowers, of Columbia; three grandchildren, Timothy Howdeshell, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, Amber Howdeshell, of Vandalia, and Crystal (Tyler) Splain, of Curryville; one step granddaughter, Kassi Slater; and three great-grandchildren, Parker Splain, and Kyler and Kayson McCurdy.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Alan Howdeshell.
Mr. Howdeshell was a lifetime area resident and was Christian by faith. He worked at Harbison Walker Refractories, Slater’s Elevator in Laddonia, Lacrosse Lumber in Mexico and Vandalia, and Mac’s Appliance in Vandalia.
He was a self employed electrician for many years and then managed Welch Lumber Co. in Laddonia until his retirement in 1997.
He enjoyed playing Suduko, cards, and hunting and fishing.
