Members of the American Legion and several young ball players celebrated the raising of a new American flag on a new flag pole at the baseball field in Laddonia on Saturday, May 31.
The flag pole was recently erected as one of many projects taken on by the Laddonia Athletic Association.
Among the list of maintenance completed at the park includes bleachers being fixed with several new boards, painted bleachers, painted front part of the concession stand, and recently a newly purchased outfield fence. The fence is being installed this week.
“We want our ball park to be user friendly,” said LAA treasurer Joy Davis.
Davis is on a newly elected associational board which includes President Chad Evans, Vice-President Mike McGrew, and Secretary Tonya Myers.
The association features players competing in T-ball (ages 4-6), Coach Pitch (ages 7-8), 9-10 year olds, and 11-12 year olds.
There is also a men’s slow pitch softball league playing games on Friday nights.
Starting on June 16, there will be a co-ed slow pitch softball league playing games on Monday nights.
Several community members are scheduling fundraiser tournaments for ball teams or other benefits.
“We just want everybody to know we’ll work with everybody, to try and get something started for them,” Evans added.
