Juanita Henderson’s 100th birthday will be celebrated at the New Harmony Church on Saturday, June 7. There will be a short program at 2 p.m. followed by a time for visiting and carry-in meal (meat and drink provided). Everyone is invited to celebrate the life of this amazing lady!
The annual meeting of the New Harmony Cemetery Association was held on Sunday, June 1, following regular morning services. Those present expressed their appreciation for the continued upkeep of the cemetery grounds. Plans were made to restore and repair some of the stones in the cemetery during the coming year. Anyone wishing to make donations may send them to Marion Branstetter, 6219 Pike 9, Frankford, Mo. 63441.
Following the carry-in meal, the VFW Post from Bowling Green participated in a service of remembrance led by Pastor Marie Turner on the cemetery grounds. Marion Branstetter shared a song, Taps was played, and a gun salute was given.
Flags had been placed on the graves of all veterans buried at New Harmony for the Memorial Day weekend and remained through the special service held on this date.
