Entertainment acts, carnival scheduled for Vandalia Fair
Country singer Shawna Russell headlines this year’s Vandalia Area Fair with her performance scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27.
A packed schedule filled with entertainment acts, carnival rides, a Lawnmower Derby, and more has been set for this year’s Vandalia Area Fair June 24-28.
Recording Artist Shawna Russell, one of the top independent female recording artists on the MusicRow Radio Chart during the past year, will perform on the Main Track on Friday, June 27 at 8:30 p.m.
Russell sings contemporary country music influenced by 1970’s country-rock and California pop, this according to “Country Weekly.”
Another new entertainment act to the Fair this year is the local group “Pike 41,” featuring Joey Ringhausen and Dylan Stubblefield. The two recently wrote and performed “Small Town Livin’” at the Fair Auction in February.
Local Melissa Nutt will perform on opening night.
Performers “Little” John Foster, Heather Buchanan, and Madison Stuart are returning for another performance in 2014 after entertaining crowds last year.
A Lawnmower Derby is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27 in the Horse Arena.
A Volleyball Tournament will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 28. The event will benefit the Vandalia Recreation Corporation Library/YMCA Project.
On the same day, the Vandalia Area Historical Society will have a display inside the School Building from 5-8 p.m.
A Garden Tractor Pullers of Mid-Missouri Association Garden Tractor/Mini Rod Pull is slated for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 at the track.
Ramsey Dickerman is holding some new Kids Events from 5-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
A Cake Decorating Contest will be held on June 25 from 5-8 p.m. inside the School Building for ages 6-12 and 13-17.
Cakes must be dropped off at the fairgrounds no later than 3:30 p.m. with judging taking place at 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact Kelly Mink at 573-470-8692.
