Van-Far JH track excels at meets

The Van-Far Junior High track and field team had several top performances at recent meets.
In the Bowling Green Mini Medal Meet, Jordan Garner won the 7th grade discus by 13’, with a toss of 70’. She also won the high jump after clearing 4’4” and won the 100 meters with a time of 13.75 seconds.
Garner also won the 200 meters in 30.66 seconds.
Jayle Jennings won the 7th grade 1,600 meters by 12 seconds with a time of 6:08.17 and won the 800 meters in 2:51.31. she also took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 10’05.5”.
Taryn Adam was third in the 8th grade 800 meters with a time of 3:07.80. She was fourth in the 1,600 meters with a time of 7:12.24.
Josh Hodde led the boys team by winning the 8th grade triple jump with a leap of 36’1.25”. He also took third in the long jump with a leap of 16’.
He teamed with Parker Wallace, Jacob Garner, and Lathyn McMorris to win the 4×400-meter relay race with a time of 4:07.
He also teamed with Colten Jensen, Kyle Ebers, and Alex Flowers to help the 4×100-meter relay team take fourth in 55.98 seconds.
Lathyn McMorris won the 8th grade 1,600 meters with a time of 5:19.16 and the 800 meters in 2:20.28.
Trey Miller took second in the 7th grade long jump with a leap of 14’2”, second in the 400 meters in 1:03.84, and second in the 100 meters in 13.84 seconds. He was third in the triple jump with a leap of 24’4.75”.
Caden Wilburn placed second in the 7th grade 200 meters with a time of 29.54 seconds.
Wilburn teamed with Alec Adam, Jayson Orr, and Dylan Hunter to take second in the 4×100-meter relay.
Tyler Robinson was third in the 7th grade 800 meters in 2:55.06. He also took fifth in the 1,600 meters. He placed fifth in the 100 meter-hurdles with a time of 22.16 seconds.
Alec Adam placed sixth in the 7th grade 1,600 meters and seventh in the 800 meters. He was also eighth in the 100-meter hurdles.
Parker Wallace was second in the 8th grade 400 meters with a time of 1:00.69.
Jacob Garner took eighth in the 8th grade  triple jump with leap of 29’3”. He also took third in the high jump after clearing 5’.
Alex Flowers took third in the 8th grade discus with a toss of 97’9”.
Nathan Beatty placed fourth with a toss of 32’8.5” and Kyle Ebers was sixth with a toss of 29’ in the 8th grade shot put.
The 7th grade 4×200-meter relay team of Dylan Hunter, Orr, Wilburn, and Robinson won their race with a time of 2:27.94.
The 8th grade 4×200-meter relay team of Jacob Garner, Jensen, Wallace, and McMorris took second with a time of 1:50.41.
In the team standings, Van-Far boys were second in 7th grade with 76 points and fourth in the 8th grade with 87.5 points in the eight team meet.
The 7th grade girls scored 62 points for third place while the 8th grade girls scored just the 12 points for eighth.
In the Louisiana Middle School Invitational, McMorris won the 800 metes in 2:15 and the 1,600 meters in 4:51.
Wallace won the 400 meters in 57.69 seconds and teamed with Jacob Garner, Hodde, and McMorris to win the 4×400 in 4:01.
Hodde won the long jump with a leap of 17’6” and leaped 38’6” in the triple jump.
Miller was fifth in the 400 meters and seventh in the 100 meters.
Wilburn took ninth in the 200 meters, Robinson was sixth in the 1,600 meters, Jacob Garner was fourth in the high jump, and Flowers was fifth in the shot put.
The boys finished third overall and missed first place by just six points.
Jordan Garner helped the Lady Indians finish fourth overall by winning the 100 meters in 13.90 seconds. She also took third in the 200 meters in 29.58 seconds. She was fourth in the discus with a toss of 67’11” and second in the high jump after clearing 4’6”.
Jennings took second in the 800 meters in 2:47.
Taryn Adam was seventh in the 1,600 meters and 11th in the 800 meters.
