The Van-Far boys and girls track and field team won several medals last week after competing at meets in Monroe City and Hermann.
At the MCMS Invitational, the Indians earned 50 team points to take fifth place overall in a 13-team meet.
Lathyn McMorris led the boys in winning the 800 meters by seven seconds with a time of 2:24.4. He also won the 1,600 meters by 15 seconds with a time of 5:14.9.
The 4×400-meter relay team won their race by 14 seconds at 4:16.45.
Josh Hodde won the triple jump after leaping 32’9.5”. Jacob Garner took eighth in the same event with a leap of 28’7”.
Jacob Garner also took eighth in the high jump after clearing 4’8”.
Parker Wallace placed third in the 400 meters in 1:09.16 while Trey Miller took fifth in 1:13.95.
Nathan Beatty finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 33’1”.
The Lady Indians placed sixth in Monroe City with 36 points.
Jordan Garner shined in several events, including a first place toss of 78’8” in the discus. She took second in the 100 meters with a time of 14.01 seconds. She placed fourth in the 200 meters in 30.80 seconds and took fifth in the high jump after leaping 4’4”.
Jayle Jennings finished in third place in the 800 metes with a time of 2:51.8.
Hermann Invitational
In the Hermann Invitational, McMorris won the 1,600 meters in 5:02 and took second in the 800 meters in 2:21.
He teamed with Wallace, Hodde, and Jacob Garner to finish the 4×400-meter relay in 4:00, a school record.
Hodde placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 34’8”, 11th in the long jump and 12th in the high jump.
Wallace placed third in the 400 meters in 59.03 seconds.
Jacob Garner took seventh in the high jump after clearing 4’10”.
Miller took 10th in the 400 meters and 11th in the 100 meters.
Alex Flowers finished 15th in the discus. Nathan Beatty was 12th in the shot put with a toss of 31’ while Kyle Ebers had a toss of 30’8”.
Jordan Garner won the 200 meters in 29.14 seconds, finished second in the 100 meters in 14.08 seconds, finished second in the discus with a toss of 70’, and was fifth in he high jump after clearing 4’2”. Jennings was third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:46. She also took fourth in the 1,600 meters in 6:04.
Taryn Adam was 15th in the 800 meters.
