Driver’s License Office at City Hall until Housing Authority is ready
Services for the Driver’s License office in Vandalia were extended at City Hall through April 15 after aldermen approved the measure during their monthly meeting on March 11.
According to city minutes, the measure continues the office at City Hall until the transition and opening day at the Vandalia Housing Authority on Main St. Currently, no official opening day has been set.
City of Vandalia Assistant to the City Administrator Debbie Hopke told those attending the meeting that the current contract with the State of Missouri expired on October 14, 2013. The contract was extended through February 11 under the current service level-open 40 hours per week, 5 days per week.
At the February 2014 meeting, council action included that the City of Vandalia would accept an extension under the current services level through February 28, 2104. An extension through the end of March 2014 would be accepted based on the service levels proposed under the bid for the new contract-open 24 hours per week, with the dates and hours to be determined.
An extension through March 31 agreeing to the 24 hours per week of service was issued by the State of Missouri and signed by the City of Vandalia.
Effective March 1, the License office is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. to meet the 24 hours per week minimum required by the state.
New Concession Stand
Aldermen approved a measure to allow the Vandalia Youth Ball Association to construct a new concession stand at South Park.
The VYBA is looking to construct a new and larger concession stand in the approximate same location as the current one.
The 40’ x 24’ building could include restrooms, storage, and a covered area for gathering.
No funds are being requested from the city though the city might need to change utility services to accommodate the new building. There may also be a need to assist with grading and drainage.
The VYBA has agreed to mutual protections.
