Task Forces—Operation Task Force
The Operations Task Force will determine what it is going to take to operate the Library/YMCA for everyday use and to maintain long term financial sustainability.
Members of the Operation Task Force:
Donna Wilson grew up on a farm and has lived in the Vandalia/Farber area all her life. Banking has also been a big part of her life. Donna began her banking career at Laddonia State Bank in the bookkeeping department over 30 years ago. After LSB merged with First National Bank, she worked in all areas including teller, customer service and lending. Donna is presently branch manager at the Vandalia facility.
Donna is a member of First Baptist Church where she teaches a class of 2, 3 and 4 year olds each Sunday morning. She presently serves as treasurer of the Vandalia Rotary Club.
Donna and her husband, Freddie, graduated from Van-Far and so did their two children. Her real enjoyment is their four super grandkids ages 3, 5, 6 and 10. Donna love for young folks makes her very mindful of the need for exercise and socialization at a young age that the proposed library/YMCA would provide. However, she also is beginning to see the other end of the spectrum. Freddie recently retired as a machinist from AP Green Refractories in Mexico so it will be very beneficial for retirees as well! It is so important to keep everyone in the community plugged in and active.
Charla Smith was born and raised in Vandalia. She graduated from Van-Far in 1995 and received a Bachelor’s of Marketing from Hannibal-LaGrange College. She has been in the banking industry for 17 years. Charla is currently a Member Service Rep for United Credit Union. Her husband, Mike, works for the City of Vandalia Water Department. They have one daughter Emily who is 3 years old. They are very active members of First Baptist Church. Charla is also a member of the Vandalia Planning and Zoning Committee.
Teresa Wenzel is retired from Community R-6. She taught 32 years in the Elementary School. Teresa is married to Kevin Wenzel, who is a sales manager for Target Windows and Doors. They have lived in Vandalia for 35 years. Their two sons, Jason and Craig, both graduated from Van-Far.
Teresa is a Ward I Alderman on the Vandalia City Council. She teaches Sunday School at Vandalia United Methodist, is treasurer of Susanna Randolph Chapter, NSDAR; President of Audrain County Area Genealogical Society; and a member of Audrain County Area Public School Retirees; and Chapter CE, P.E.O.. Teresa believes a new library/YMCA will be a magnificent asset to the community. As a child, the Vandalia Library was an important source of new books to read each Saturday.
Teresa also values a healthy lifestyle and feels that the YMCA can be a wonderful place to help the youth and citizens of Vandalia with fitness opportunities.
