Van-Far holds annual Christmas Concert

The Van-Far High School band performed three selections on Tuesday, December 17 at the annual Christmas concert in the gymnasium.

The Van-Far High School band performed three selections on Tuesday, December 17 at the annual Christmas concert in the gymnasium.

The Van-Far Junior High and Senior High choir and band performed at their annual Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 17 in the gymnasium. The groups were directed by Alex Cucciarre and accompanied on the piano by Kay Bunge.
The junior high band kicked off the evening with “Winter Medley.” The next piece was “What’d I Say” by Ray Charles. The song featured solos by Lauren Shaw, Clarinet; Jayson Orr, Trumpet; Averie Cottrell, Alto Sax, and Zak Strange, Alto Sax. The last song performed by the junior high band was “Christ Tidings.”
The high school band followed up with “Sleigh Ride” featuring a solo by Luke Lile.
The next selection was “Fantasia on a Christmas Carol” featuring solos by Cody Swarthout and Brooke Johnson.
The band finished up with a familiar favorite, “Angels We Have Heard on High.”
The junior high choir started out with “A Celtic Christmas,” featuring soloist Makayla Vigil. Their next piece was “Our Gift for You,” featuring soloist Katlyn Hunn.
The high school choir sang “Bonse Aba,” featuring soloist Janie Swarthout. The next selection performed was “Music of the Night” (Phantom of the Opera), followed with “Imagine” by John Lennon, featuring soloist Daisja DeJesus.
Both the junior and senior high teamed up for the final song, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” featuring Reaghan Case.
