Several Christmas events take place this weekend
Santa Claus is coming to town December 7. The Farber Community Betterment will be hosting a Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. and Santa will make an appearance at 6:30 p.m.
Bring a blanket as a movie will follow the events. Popcorn, Kool-Aid, and hot cocoa will be provided. Bring a canned food item and your child will get a prize.

Help Foster Kids Event
As Christmas draws closer, local organizations are hosting holiday events to try and make the season brighter for everyone. There are three holiday events taking place on Saturday and one on Sunday.
The Evans family will be hosting a “Stuff the Stockings” event on Saturday, December 7 from 4-9 p.m. at the Vandalia Area Fairgrounds.
The event will help the kids in the foster system have a Merry Christmas. Take time to enjoy a hot bowl of soup and help fill a trailer with new toys. The soup supper is a love donation to purchase toys and stocking stuffers for local foster kids. For more information, contact Michael Evans at 573-721-5757.
“Blessings in a Bag” benefit
The Second Missionary Baptist Church Community Outreach will be hosting “Christmas Miracles” for “Blessings in a Bag” on December 7 at 7 p.m. It is the story of a journey of three young people that receive a Christmas miracle.
The free event will be held at the SMBC Worship Center, 1501 Hwy. 54 West in Vandalia.
Please bring the following items to donate to “Blessings in a Bag:” jars of peanut butter; peanut butter crackers; pop-top entrees, pop/cellophane top individual fruits; pop-top canned soups; and granola bars.

Tree Lighting – Martinsburg
On Sunday, December 8, the Martinsburg Area Community Betterment will be hosting a Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. at the Nativity Scene in downtown Martinsburg.
