Ladies Auxiliary set for holiday causes
The Ladies’ Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 2173 met on Thursday, November 13 at the post home in Vandalia. President Victoria Shaw called the 7 p.m. meeting to order. Opening ceremonies were observed.
The minutes were approved as corrected. The treasurer’s report was filed. Correspondence read included General Orders No. 4 for October 2013.
Those members present heard committee reports from Val Galloway for membership, from Americanism Chairman Norma Shaw concerning the disposal of derelict flags, and from Community Service Chairman Ann Wasson collecting hours of service.
Under unfinished business a donation was made in the memory of Opal Stotler, deceased member.
Motions were passed to donate to the Toys for Tots program, the local Salvation Army, and the Vandalia Area Ministerial Alliance for the Christmas season. A motion was passed to donate garage sale leftover clothing to The Help Center in Mexico, Mo., and to save the remainder of the garage sale items for spring.
The VFW Hall will be decorated for the December rentals.
Closing ceremonies were observed.

The next auxiliary meeting is Thursday, December 12 at the post home.
