LEPC meets at Tallgrass
The Local Emergency Planning Committee’s (LEPC) 4th quarter meeting was held at Tallgrass Pipeline on October 17.
Chairman Steve Shaw welcomed all members and introduced Eric Lagasse and Jennifer Reams of Tallgrass Pipeline and Derek Long of Trans-Canada pipeline.
The meeting minutes for the July 18 meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and approved, followed by the quarterly hazard incident report.
Fundraisers for the LEPC group will be brought to the group in January. A subcommittee needs to be formed to address this issue.
The multi-gas indicators purchase of several years ago and problems were discussed and Shaw informed the group that the company said to test every 120 days instead of every 30 days and ADM.
Brooks Pettit said they would be willing to help the group with changing the sensors.
The large scale chemical event with the vandalia prison was tabled until the prison officials meet with LEPC members.
Shaw informed the group of the statewide identification badging system proposal, was moved to the next meeting.
Meeting turned over to our host, at which time the group toured the pumping station were given safety measures for all responding agencies.
Jennifer Reams informed the group of certified training offered through tallgrass for all agencies and free of charge
Tall grass informed the group that they have one HCA (highly concentrated area) in Audrain County, and it is located off of Highway 15. They have one storm shelter on the premise for 8-10 people; open to citizens in the area during daylight operating hours.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:45 p.m. The next meeting on January 16, 2014 will be a celebration meeting. They will be celebrating the accomplishments of the LEPC group in 2013. The meeting/dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Audrain County Courthouse.
