R-VI JH girls continue strong play

R-VIThe Community R-VI Junior High Lady Trojans basketball team played the Wellsville Lady Tigers on Tuesday, November 5. The Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Tigers, 18-3.
In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans scored seven points, six in the second, zero in the third quarter, and five in the fourth.
Alissa Curtis and Madelynn Gastler were the high scorers. Curtis scored six and Gastler scored five points.
On Friday, November 8, The  Lady Trojans played the North Callaway Lady Thunderbirds. The Lady Trojans won the game, 35-16.
In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans scored four points, six in the second, eight in the third quarter, and 17 in the fourth.
Alissa Curtis, Madelynn Gastler, and Ivy Stathem were the high scorers. Curtis scored 15 points, Gastler scored 12 points, and Stathem had six points.
“The game was back and forth between the two teams the first two quarters and we were tied going into half time.  In the second half, we tightened up defensively which led to more offensive opportunities,” head coach Stacie Carroz.
On Monday, November 11, the  Community R-VI Junior High Lady Trojans basketball team played the Madison Lady Panthers. The Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Panthers, 30-11.
In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans scored five points, seven in the second, twelve in the third quarter, and six in the fourth.
Alissa Curtis and Chelsea Hoyt were the high scorers. Curtis scored 14 and Gastler scored eight points.
“I am extremely proud of how the Lady Trojans played! Every single member got after it defensively causing turnovers for the Lady Panthers,” Carroz said.
