Two Vandalia residents injured in train accident

Two Vandalia residents suffered moderate injuries this past Sunday after their vehicle was struck by a train.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Traffic Crash Report, 19-year-old Cody Ruby failed to yield to a crossbuck at the railroad crossing on Audrain County Road 557, just 62 feet south of Highway 54.
He was reportedly driving his 1996 Ford Mustang when a 1990 Electric C40-8 Kansas City Southern locomotive struck its side.
Ruby and his 52-year-old passenger, Vicki Brown, each suffered moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.
The accident occured at 6:42 p.m. Responding to the accident were both the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department.
