Holiday plans set for Agape House
Agape House of Vandalia board members met Sunday, October 13, following the 10th annual open house.
Tentative plans were made to prepare meat and cheese trays for guests over the Thanksgiving weekend. The facility would be decorated for Christmas at the November 19 board meeting.
In other business, the manager reported 22 guests, including three children, had stayed at the house in September. This low number seems quite usual when compared to records in previous years for September.
Janet Heim reported on guest numbers in the ninth year of operation, completed September 30, 661 guests from 49 Missouri counties and 13 states visited Agape House during their visits to family incarcerated at correctional centers in Bowling Green and Vandalia.
Annual cleanup for the house was held October 2. Five offenders and two staff members from WERDCC were present. Supervising board members reported much good work was completed.
St. Joseph School students of Martinsburg will fold, address, and stamp the annual newsletter when it is completed later this month.
The quarterly inspection of the facility was conducted; the facility was found to be in excellent condition. Guest surveys also made positive comments about the house and its management.
